Bold Street Coffee is renowned for serving speciality coffee that’s roasted in house. They also offer a selection of hand-picked guest beans and blends from independent roasters on rotation. Thanks to their devotion to coffee and their attention to detail, Bold Street Coffee has built a following among avid coffee connoisseurs who enjoy their carefully blended range of Flat Whites, Mocha, Espresso, Cortado, Cappuccino, Latte, Americano, Short & Long Black, Piccolo and Batch Brew as well as a selection of teas and iced drinks.
Bold Street Coffee was created in Liverpool and has been a city institution since opening on Bold Street in 2010. The brand has since expanded by launching a site on Cross Street Manchester in December 2021, where it received an incredibly warm welcome. BSC University Green is the fourth venue for the group after their second Liverpool site opened
in the business district of Liverpool at The Plaza in February 2022.
BSC University Green’s food offering will be the same as the breakfast and lunch menu at Cross Street. Guests can enjoy a selection of fresh pastries with their coffee along with signature BSC Frys, Egg Boxes and Bowls of Super Porridge and Granola. BSC also offers a wide range of delicious butties, including their Chicken Katsu Club and classic Egg Mayo.
Vegans are well catered for with plant-based options including a roasted Chickpea and Avo Butty served on granary bread with beetroot hummus and rocket. There’s even a high-protein option for those keeping an eye on their macros with a ‘No Carb Box’ packed with scrambled egg, melted cheese, bacon, mushroom, tomato, avocado and rocket.
The BSC breakfast staple though is their Buoys. Ya basic egg buoy is a lightly toasted brioche bun packed with scrambled egg and melted cheese. Other variations include Sausage Buoy, Bacon Buoy, and a Veggie Buoy with hash brown, fried egg, avocado, mushroom, cheese and onion jam. There’s even a vegan buoy with a vegan brioche bun, aubergine patty, scrambled tofu, hash brown, vegan cheese, spinach and onion jam.
Want to go all out? Try the popular Bad Buoy packed with a sausage patty, fried egg, cheese, avocado and hollandaise sauce.
Like all other Bold Street Coffee sites, BSC University Green will be both family and dog friendly with Babaccinos and Puppaccinos available on request.
BSC University Green will also have its own range of BSC House coffee beans as well as guest roasts to purchase along with some home brewing equipment.
Matt Farrell, Director of Bold Street Coffee, and hospitality group GSG, said: “We’re delighted to announce our next project in Manchester. The transformation to the Oxford Road corridor in the last few years has been dramatic and the ever expanding, vibrant University makes this a diverse and exciting place to set up the next BSC after its opening success on Cross Street.
“We are pleased at GSG to be adding extra roots in the Manchester food and drink scene with more to follow later in the year. After such a difficult few years, there is an air of expectation around and I think this marks the start of an exciting time for the city, speciality coffee and Northern Hospitality.”
Bold Street Coffee also prides itself on using its space to support local artists, championing their work and showcasing it as a gallery throughout the space. To mark the opening of BSC University Green, Manchester based illustrator Jessica Lee will be the first to exhibit her work.
Jess’s work explores character designs, transforming regular things into an exciting idea through bold and fresh colours. “I’m inspired by the surrealism art movement,” says Jess. “The idea of merging stuff together to create something new and drawing what I want to see.”
BSC University Green will also be displaying work from Liverpool based artist, Sean Webster, who is currently exhibiting in Bold Street Coffee Liverpool. You can see details of Sean here.
